The Transformative Power of a Strengths-Based Workplace

These days there is one promising workplace approach for leaders that deeply value their teams, and that is a focus on the key strengths of the people working with them.

Rather than emphasizing weaknesses or areas of improvement, a better way is to focus on strengths while releasing and leveraging inherent team member talents and capabilities.

Why is this strengths-based focus so important in business? 

Because we all want to make a meaningful contribution, achieve high level profitability, and enjoy the journey with minimal negative stress. To accomplish this we must prioritize building a strong team as our main asset. This doesn’t occur naturally for a variety of reasons so we have to be more intentional in designing and developing our people, zeroing in on what helps them thrive professionally. A personalized approach is necessary since we all have different desired outcomes, styles, needs, and driving motivators.

According to Gallup’s extensive investigation work highlighted in their State of the Global Workplace report, it was found that employee engagement levels are alarmingly low worldwide. Approximately 70% of workers across various industries and countries are not engaged in their daily work, with some being actively disengaged.
